Seminarziel:

  • Basic and practical eye examination techniques of the horse eye.
  • Discussion on slit lamp techniques, indirect ophthalmoscopy, tonometry, aqueocentesis, vitreal taps, OCT and ultrasonography.
  • Diagnosis and therapy of superficial ulcerative corneal disease
  • Understanding of
    - why corneal ulcers can become catastrophic conditions with deepening, presence of cellular infiltrates and uveitis, and abnormal vascularization
    - the nonulcerative corneal conditions in horses as they are serious and common
    - inflammatory and noninflammatory conditions of the iris, ciliary body and choroid is critical to veterinarians working with horses
    - the nonulcerative corneal conditions in horses as they are serious and common
    - the surgical techniques that are considered routine for horses with eye problems
  • To develop an understanding and capability of performing corneal reconstructive surgery and lens removal surgery in the horse.
