Essential ophthalmology - ocular surface diseases: Diseases of the lacrimal system. Beyond Cyclosporine and Schirmer Tear Test

Beschreibung:

Module I. Essential ophthalmology - Ocular surface diseases

The eye is an extremely delicate organ, and even a „trivial“ ulcer can quickly lead to corneal perfortion and loss of the eye. As a general practitioner, most of your ophthlamic caseload probably involves diseases of the ocular surface (eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea), and these will be the focus of this module. Here is what we shall cover (*subject to changes):

Diseases of the lacrimal system. Beyond Cyclosporine and Schirmer Tear Test

  • Dry eye is a very prevalence cause of canine keratoconjunctivitis. While usually it is caused by an aqueous tear deficiency, there are other causes for this common disease. In this lecture we shall discuss the workup and treatment of patients with dry eye, as well as those presenting with tear drainage disorders.
