Veterinary Ophthalmology: Clinical Updates

Beschreibung:

The series covers the following topics:

Jan 28, 2027 -  So much pressure! Understanding and treating glaucoma

Early recognition of glaucoma is crucial for saving vision of patients. Learn how to diagnose and manage this painful and blinding disease.

Feb 4, 2027 –  Uveitis. It’s a clinical sign, not a diagnosis!

Often, anterior and/or posterior uveitis is simply a manifestation of a systemic disease. It may also be secondary to cataract (in dogs), neoplasia (in elderly patients) and corneal disease. Though some cases may be idiopathic, a diagnosis of uveitis mandates a thorough investigation to uncover the primary cause. Prompt treatment is required, as complications resulting from uveitis may lead to blindness. However, treatment without proper diagnosis will usually result only in temporary relief, and may very well endanger the patient’s life as a potentially grave systemic condition is not diagnosed.

Feb 11,2027 - Too little? Too much? Diseases of the lacrimal system

Dry eye is a very prevalence cause of canine keratoconjunctivitis. While usually it is caused by an aqueous tear deficiency, there are other causes for this common disease. In this lecture we shall discuss the workup and treatment of patients with dry eye, as well as those presenting with tear drainage disorders.

Feb 18,2027 – Doctor, will my pet see again? Diagnosis and treatment of blindness in dogs

Is my blind patient a neurological or an ophthalmic case? A few simple tests will help you localize the lesion and narrow your list of differential diagnosis. Common causes of blindness will also be reviewed

Zielgruppe:

Veterinarians in small animal practice, especially those with a focus or interest in veterinary ophthalmology. This seminar is ideal for clinicians seeking to deepen their knowledge of eye diseases and improve their diagnostic and therapeutic approach in everyday practice.
