Description:
Learning objectives:
Spinal surgery accounts for the largest proportion of neurosurgical procedures in small animals, with herniated discs being the most commonly treated condition. Successful treatment requires careful clinical and diagnostic evaluation in order to select the appropriate individual treatment strategy.
This is based on a sound neurological understanding of the exact location of the lesion. In a first step, training in clinical neurological localisation is provided using video cases. Building on this, the therapeutic decision-making process and the various treatment options are discussed in detail.
Knowledge is imparted in a practical and interactive manner using video analyses, short lectures and an optional wet lab in a pleasant and relaxed learning atmosphere. Regardless of whether the discopathy is cervical, thoracolumbar or lumbosacral, the focus is on developing a treatment plan tailored to the individual patient.
This training course will help you make informed decisions between conservative and surgical therapy and select the appropriate surgical technique for each case. In addition, you will receive practical tips and tricks for successfully performing ventral slot, hemilaminectomy with fenestration and dorsal laminectomy.
This course will be plurilingual. Presentations will be on English, but during practicals explanations can be provided on French, german, czech and English on demand.
